Get Your Skin Red Carpet Ready!

Although it may be winter, it’s awards season! Time to ogle all the celebrities’ beautiful gowns, hair and makeup–a bright spot in the endless loop of cold, grey days. Between the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards, the Oscars and the Grammy’s, the red carpet coverage is really non-stop! Thanks to social media, it’s now easier than ever to get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into getting stars red carpet-ready. While us regulars may not be chased by the paparazzi anytime soon, we can definitely adopt the skincare prep that stars undertake to look their best in front of the cameras. Why not pamper yourself with this routine while watching the awards ceremony from the couch?

Exfoliate
The best base for makeup is one that is smooth and hydrated. Either use a scrub, like AlumierMD’s Lotus Scrub, to buff away dead skin cells or apply a gentle professional peel to your face, neck and chest. AlumierMD’s Enzymatic Peel contains 10% lactic acid and will not only exfoliate, but also promote skin renewal and minimize the appearance of fine lines, hyperpigmentation and wrinkles.

Hydrate
After exfoliating, it is important to make sure that skin gets an extra boost of hydration to recover. Since the top layer of skin cells has been removed, skin is extra receptive to products, making it the perfect opportunity to feed it with powerful ingredients. Double up on serums; first apply AlumierMD’s Ultimate Boost to provide the skin with a shot of hydration with hyaluronic acid, then follow-up with the Vitamin Rich Smoother Serum, which contains vitamins C and E to help brighten the skin. It has a silky smooth consistency that evens out skin texture, making it a great base for makeup. After applying the serum, apply a good layer of moisturizer–makeup will last longer and sit better on the skin. For an extra glow, gently massage the moisturizer into the skin; face massages boost circulation and will help the products penetrate the skin. Don’t forget your eyes–the light reflective particles in AluminEye pop and brighten the eye area and can be used on the upper cheekbone to add a little shimmer and shine to any red carpet look.

Neck and Décolleté
Plunging necklines and revealing dresses mean that stars can’t just stop their skincare at their face–they need to follow through down to their neck and décolleté–and you should too. Your neck and chest will betray the signs of aging just as much as your face! AlumierMD’s Neck and Décolleté Firming Cream reduces the visible signs of aging with making the skin appear more youthful. Thanks to a small amount of retinol, collagen and elastin production is boosted and white licorice and kojic acid help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and even skin tone. The cream also contains gentle acids to exfoliate away dead skin cells and promote skin renewal. Since this cream contains retinol and acids, it should only be applied at night.

With these three prep tips, your skin should be bright, smooth and ready for whatever you’ve got planned–whether it’s attending an awards show, or watching one comfortably from your couch!
